Word for the day “God’s guaranteed promises”

02 Nov

Romans 4:16  (MSG) This is why the fulfillment of God’s promise depends entirely on trusting God and his way, and then simply embracing him and what he does. God’s promise arrives as pure gift. That’s the only way everyone can be sure to get in on it, those who keep the religious traditions and those who have never heard of them. For Abraham is father of us all. He is not our racial father—that’s reading the story backward. He is our faith father.

Have you ever made a promise you couldn’t keep? I know I have made promises I didn’t keep. But one of the amazing attributes of God is that the Lord is faithful and cannot make a promise that will not happen! The promises of God are always kept.

The Lord’s mere Word provides more security than a guaranteed loan or an A1 credit rating. One such promise made was to Abraham; God promised him that he would make him the father of many nations and that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars. The amazing thing  here was that Abraham and Sarah were both very old and their ability to make children in their younger years was thought to be over, let alone as two senior citizens.

But, as we have pointed out, when God makes a promise, it’s a done deal! Someone reading today’s message needs to be reminded of the certainty of God’s promises. But, often, a given promise of God isn’t enough; in order to reap the bounty of God’s promised blessing, we must claim the gift offered.

Point to ponder- Abraham believed God and constantly declared to many others the promise that God made, which was his way of claiming the promise of God in His life. That’s the way it should be with us. Let us boldly claim the earthly rewards that God has already declared He would provide.
