Philippians 3:12-14 (MSG) I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.
Are you living a life “of regrets”? Many of us live our lives in regrets without being aware of it. Awareness is the first step towards a great future in the Lord. Are you aware of your regrets? Or are you connected to people who are in a place of regret and your life has been impacted by them.
If only I had made better decisions. If only I had been brought up in a better family. If only I had spent more time with the children. Sometimes this “life of regrets” thinking is projected onto others:
If only you hadn’t been so stupid. If only you had made more money. If only you hadn’t failed to understand your child or spouse.
‘Life of regrets” thinking takes all of a person’s energy and emotions and uselessly spends that energy on a destructive reliving of the past, through the dark lens of what might have been. This focus is so all-consuming that it leaves you without strength or motivation to resolve the past and move on to achieve your future.
Point to ponder- Yes I said your future; a future full of possibilities that God puts before you, that the Lord wants you to take hold of. Yes you do have a future but you can’t have it living and loathing in regrets. Today’s message is the first step of your release into your New future in God!
For His Glory,
Pastor James Baker, Jr.
