I Corinthians 4:4 (NIV) My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me.
We are all born with a sense of right and wrong. Before children can even speak, they have a sense of it. You can tell by watching them. They check to see if they can get away with something, and when you tell them no, they do it anyway. Conscience is the inner sense of what is right or wrong in one’s conduct or motives, impelling one toward right action: to follow the dictates of conscience. The complex of ethical and moral principles that controls or inhibits the actions or thoughts of an individual.
Right and wrong are in our human nature. There is a human conscience, (Romans 1:18) says, “God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness.” What do you think about this message? Does your conscience keep you oppressed? Does your conscience function as it should?
Down in our hearts, we know right from wrong. God’s laws are written within them. Our own conscience either accuses or excuses us. And God will judge us according to the light we have received. This means we have to be in touch with ourselves and God at the same time, for the results to be optimal in our lives!
Point to ponder: God wants to save us even more than we want to be saved. Jesus said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost” (Luke 19:10). Now this is some good news family of God. Don’t be condemned by your conscience, let your conscience be your guide.
